THE CHALLENGE
As a BYOD campus, challenges arose in how to provide enough outlets and secure areas for students to charge and store their devices. John Paul II High School also offers an option to rent a school-managed Dell Chromebook and they required an efficient way for students to obtain and return rented devices as needed. All of this was vital in helping to minimize distractions and lost instruction time in the classroom. Kris Thurston, Director of Information Technology, adds: “Our students also need to secure and charge their devices during lunch and gym periods and while participating in after-school activities.”
THE SOLUTION
John Paul II High School determined TechGuard Connect Lockers with individual locker bays were ideal for students to charge and store their devices and as a solution for students to obtain school-managed Chromebooks. Sets of TechGuard Connect Lockers are dedicated to school-managed Chromebooks while other sets of lockers are dedicated for students who bring their own device.
Each locker bay offers an AC outlet and two USB charging ports, allowing students to bring their own charging device, a feature that is especially helpful on a BYOD campus.
